The Myth:

"If you put your mind to it, and just work hard, you can be anything you want to be"

The Fact:

"We call this the 'Idols Myth', because the most obvious proof that this is not true, is just watching 'Idols Auditions' on TV.  (Even the dramatic true story, made into a movie called "Rudy" is proof of this myth.  Rudy put all of his energy, work and dreams into becomming a football player for 'Notre Dame', and in the end only played a couple of minutes of the last game of the season.)  Hard work is important.  Dreams are crucial.  But lasting achievement and true success must be a combination of natural talent, passion and hard work. You can become what you have talent to be - if you work hard and put your mind to it."
