I've done the Clifton StrengthsFinder Online Assessment,

and got my Top 5 Talents....

Why do I still need to be Coached?

Discovering your strengths and not being properly coached, most often leads to unfulfillment with the whole idea...  We call it a "flash-in-the-pan" excitement with strengths.  It comes down to acknowledging talent, and not doing something practical to develop it!

There are a couple of questions that might lead you to understand why (skilled) coaching is important:

  • Are you certain that your top 5 themes are actually "strengths", and not merely "talent themes"?  How would you know the difference?
  • Did you know that each definition of a talent fits into one of four groups?  Do you understand the dynamics of these different groups?
  • You received the Top 5 strength themes.  But did you know that 34 different themes were actually assessed?  What about numbers 6-34?  What impact do they have on you?
  • Apart from (maybe) reading descriptions of each theme, even in the books, what do you think you actually know about each one of these themes?
  • How does different strengths affect each other in combination?
  • Did you know that two or more of your themes could actually combine and manifest itself to look like something completely different?  Is that happening to you?  How will you know?
  • Did you realize that, even although it is assessed as "strengths", the Top 5 is not necessarily developed into strengths?  How could you turn this talent potential into a strength?
  • How could you actually start to focus and develop your talents into strengths?
  • How does your themes affect your spouse, colleagues, friends, children...?

..... and many more like the above.  The more you learn about strengths, the more you will realize how little you know about it!
